If you would like to recommend your child for a holiday with the
Newman Holiday Trust, please contact us via our Contact Us page. Please
tell us the town/city you live in and check our map HERE to find out which is your nearest holiday.
Have
a look through the rest of the website to find out more about what we
do. On the children’s page there is a list of frequently asked
questions – it’s obviously designed for children but it will give you
an idea of what things would be like from their point of view!
The
Newman Holiday Trust is an entirely voluntary organisation. All
volunteers are fully checked by the Criminal Records Bureau before the
holiday begins, and full training is delivered before the children
arrive.
On each holiday there is a qualified nurse who gives children their regular medicines and is on hand for any emergencies. Many of our volunteers are experienced helpers and several work in related careers such as medicine, education or social care.
If
your child were selected to come on one of our holidays, the Holiday
Organiser would pay you a visit, to find out more about your child’s
needs and answer any questions you or your child might have.
It is natural for parents to feel anxious when their child goes away, perhaps for the first time. But
for the overwhelming majority of children the holiday is a fantastic
experience, during which they have great fun, make new friends, try new
experiences, learn new skills and develop much-needed independence. And the vast majority of parents and families tell us that they had a wonderful time too!
You can find a suggested kit list here.
